10 January 2009 Retreat

 "A Change of Heart"

Not to be confused with our popular February event, "Give Your Heart Away Weekend", this is a new retreat which is open to a very limited number of participants. Women from around Winston Salem will gather for this day of informative talks, reflection, small group discussion and prayer.

Who: There are spots available for 12 participants. If you are interested in learning more about the retreat, fill out the form below.

What; This is a one-day retreat with an emphasis on conversion. We will look at this theme as it pertains to St. Francis and his early followers, as it pertains to three female medieval figures and as it pertains to us, today.

Where: In Winston Salem, NC

When: 10 January 2009, 10:00am-5:30pm

Why: To augment retreatants' knowlege and understanding of specific historical figures and the concept of conversion in their lives. Also, to give retreatants an opportunity to identify the conversion which has happened, or which needs to happen in their own lives.

How: Julie has completed five summers' worth of classes at the Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure University towar her M.A. in Franciscan Studies. During this schoolyear, she is working on her thesis project. This retreat is part of that project. Her goal is to teach people about Francis of Assisi, the Mary Magdalene of hagiography, Margaret of Cortona and Angela of Foligno within a retreat setting so that there is time to reflect on the theme of conversion in their lives and in their own life.

Cost: $20 per participant (includes lunch and all materials)
